A groom provides daily care for a group of horses. Duties include

  • grooming, bathing, bandaging, clipping

  • mucking stalls, tack cleaning, maintaining a clean and healthy stable environment

  • provide feed and water to the horses according to trainer's instruction

  • observation and reporting to trainer

  • tacking for exercise

  • cooling out

Working in a racing stable is physical work. You’ll be up early and out in all weather. But many people feel the rewards are worth it. From the chance to work with valuable thoroughbreds and quarter horses, to the thrill of leading your horse into the winners’ circle, it’s a job with plenty of excitement. From grooming the horses, to mucking out stables and cleaning tack, you’ll play a vital role in the smooth running of the stable.
